Boxing Technics

By using the correct boxing technics, you will place yourself in a position where sustaining injury will be minimal. It is vital that you speak to a professional with regards to what boxing technics you should employ. There are a number of different boxing technics that you will learn. Just ensure that you learn them correctly and with the help of a professional.

The first of all the boxing technics that you will learn, is the Jab. By practising this particular punch at every practise you have, it will slowly develop into your “Bread and Butter” punch. This is the most basic of all the boxing technics, and will ensure that you win maximum points either at long range, or medium range. By using this boxing technic, you will be successful in maintaining your opponent’s distance and thus score well.

So many trainers teach their students to “fight from behind the jab” when learning boxing technics. This is a simple mantra that you should learn and keep repeating to yourself throughout a fight. It will keep your mind clear, and help you make the right decisions. Boxing technics are important to learnt correctly.

When you are ready to learn the most basic of all the boxing technics, you will need to stand in a boxer’s stance. Make sure that both your fists are relaxed, with your palms facing one another. Once you have achieved this, make a note that your right hand needs to be the closest hand to your chin, while your left hand is about four inches in front. However, if you are left hand, dominant, you must reverse this.

You are now ready to use this boxing technics. Throw a jab with your leading hand in a straight towards your desired target. You must make sure that your hand returns back to your chin in the same straight line. Out of all the boxing technics, the jab has to be the busiest punch. This is a very powerful punch, which during the course of the bout will indeed cause plenty of damage.

If you want to increase the impact of your boxing technics, then when you throw your jab, turn your hips with your punch, by stepping forward as you deliver your jab. This will “stiffen” your jab, and make it so much more effective against your opponent. Just keep in mind, that you will need to master the jab first, before attempting to improve on the effectiveness.

Other boxing technics can be learnt gradually as your basic techniques improve. Another effective technique is the right cross, and easily becomes many boxers favourite. This is because the punch is thrown from your preferred hand, which logically is your strangest hand. It will therefore give you much more power and strength when throwing the right cross.

There are many boxing technics that you can and will learn. The two that have been mentioned are only two basics technics. Over time you will learn a wide variety of boxing technics which will improve your boxing abilities and take you from beginner to pro! Remember the words of Mohammad Ali, “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”!
